Objectives

"It's time to take down the Sheriff."

  • Confront The Sheriff
  • Kill her with a pistol (optional)
  • ...and practise not shoot the deputy (optional)

Strategy

The Sheriff, Deputy Winger, and a handful of marshals can be found at the bend in the road halfway upward Gunslinger'southward Corner. Some of them volition be on the rooftops, creating an awkward dynamic to the fight. As with the rest of Lynchwood'due south inhabitants, all of these units are level scaled (to a maximum of 30 in Normal Mode).

The Sheriff is the merely real objective, while the others provide interference. She has slightly more health than an equal-leveled Bruiser, and also possesses an virtually equally tough shield. She comes armed with a pistol and tends to stick to the rooftops, but will jump down to street level to pursue if the action moves abroad from her, even chasing Vault Hunters down to the everyman part of Gunslinger'due south Corner if led that far.

Deputy Winger and the marshals are slow-moving and easily outrun. They do not seek cover, only are inherently tough, and those on rooftops are often in difficult targeting positions. Unlike the other Marshals, Deputy Winger is equipped with a shield and has more health.

Two bonus objectives brand the fight fifty-fifty more than bad-mannered. Killing the Sheriff with a pistol limits the weapon options used to deliver the final shot, although other weapons can be employed in bringing her wellness down without nullifying the bonus objective. Avoiding shooting her deputy further pressures player choices towards precision armaments. Any damage from the character, such as grenade splash damage, will cause the objective to fail. Skills such as Cloud Kill, Helios, or Ruin tend to hinder Maya in achieving this objective. On the other paw, Axton's Sentry Turret and Gaige'due south Deathtrap can kill the Deputy without causing the objective to fail (PC).

To achieve the optional objectives more than hands, one can run past the marshals before the fight starts and reach the upper platform of Gunslinger'due south Corner. Later jumping over the trunk chest, the Sheriff can be shot (with a Dart so shots abode in on the Sheriff) while the roof blocks the view of the marshals too as the Deputy.

Completion

"Handsome Jack's girlfriend is now dead, and you lot are now the Sheriff of Lynchwood. Busy day, all things considered."

Plough In: Lynchwood Bounty Lath

Notes

  • Melee attacks with a pistol do not count equally killing the Sheriff with a pistol, nor does elemental damage, even if the chemical element was applied past a pistol.
  • A previously inaccessible car trunk loot chest behind a garage door in the building the Sheriff stands on top of is revealed during this mission, and becomes accessible thereafter.
  • After this mission has been completed, the Sheriff and her posse will respawn. However, the balance of the posse are all friendly unless the she is shot again.

Trivia

  • The objectives are a reference to Bob Marley'south song, "I Shot The Sheriff", specifically the optional objectives. "I shot the sheriff, only I didn't shoot no deputy."
  • Regardless if Handsome Jack is dead or not, he will respond with the phrase "Wait, expect, did y'all...actually just kill my girlfriend? That's...kinda pissing me off. Hunh."
